Welcome to the HMC Active Singer Registration!

Houston Masterworks Chorus is thrilled to welcome you to our NEW Singer Community hosted by Choir Genius! 🎶✨ Whether you’re joining us for the first time or returning for another exciting season, this registration will guide you through everything you need to get started. By completing your registration, you’ll pay any dues and become part of our HMC Active Singer Community.

How It Works:

New & Returning Singers: make sure your profile and details are complete and current. We ask all singers & community members to provide employer & occupation, training & experience, how you heard about HMC, and skills & talents - this info helps us apply for grant funding and build community
What You’ll Need: basic contact & background information, payment method for dues
No one is turned away for financial reasons – scholarships and assistance available & confidential; contact the Chorus Treasurer at [email protected] BEFORE registering

When You Register in Choir Genius:

Become an Active Singer & pay dues online ($100 Full-Year / $50 Half-Year) or if you prefer to pay by check or cash at the first rehearsal Sept. 8, choose the “Offline Payment” option.
Complete membership forms and let us know which concerts you want to sing in
Get access to music scores, concert info, calendar, attendance & other resources in Choir Genius
Receive weekly emails here in Choir Genius and delivered straight to your inbox

Singer Expectations:

Review HMC weekly emails for new information or important updates (sent on FRIDAYS)
Attend rehearsals & performances as scheduled
RSVP in Choir Genius and communicate promptly with Section Leaders if you must be absent
Stay performance-ready by maintaining good attendance. If you miss more than two rehearsals for any concert, your Section Leader and the Artistic Director will ask you to perform an IST (Individual Singing Test) to make sure you are up to speed.
Purchase required music or wardrobe: *NEW* option to provide your own all-black ensemble this year!

Beyond the Music – Get Involved!

HMC is powered by the talents of its members both on stage and off. If you have skills in event planning, hospitality, marketing, photography, administration, fundraising, or other areas, we’d love to know! You’ll have a chance to share these with us during your registration. Other perks of HMC Membership include:

✨ Grow Musically – through vocal workshops, rehearsals, sectionals, and artistic coaching
🎵 Open Rehearsals – Invite friends or family to WATCH or SING with us on the first Monday of each month at St. Philip (snack & social time at 6:15 with rehearsal 7:00–9:30)
🌟 Community Outreach – Participate in unique outreach projects that connect music to the heart of Houston
✨ HMC Chamber Choir Opportunities – Audition for a smaller ensemble to perform additional outreach
🖼 Street Art Mural Tours – Explore Houston’s creative side and meet artists
🎭 Group Tickets – Concerts, theater, and special events together
🤝 Social Gatherings – Connect offstage
